HI EVERYONE:
Sue Kerr passed Phase X of the FAA Wings Award. Congratulations Sue!
We had decending fog for our fly out to Castle. We had to cancel. So Barbara Crooker and family decided to fly to Red Bluff and have brunch. There she visited with Shirley and Ken Leatherwood.
Our next fly out will be to Shelter Cove. Let’s hope the weather is good there as it is a really fun place to go. If any of you without planes want to go, contact Suann at 722-9726. She will try to get you a ride with one that is flying.
Our February meeting was really fun. Lucy Shepherd had trouble finding the Quonset Hut, so went into Hillside office and got directions. If any of you have trouble, it is across to the west of the field. Driving you need to go two blocks past (west) of Benton, turn left and go to end of the road where it curves right beside the Quonset Hut. After the meeting a few of the members flew to Willows for lunch.
Barbara Crooker is really getting going on our web site. She is taking a class at Shasta College and had progressed way above me. This is going to be a wonderful addition for future members and those of us wanting to find information.
The AAUW Math and Science Conference at Shasta College is March 20th. Suann is emailing you information on it. We are "Presentors" and will introduce many young women of junior high level to aviation.
Suann, Audrey and Barbara C. are working on a Poker Run for June 5th.
Hope to make this an annual event. Perhaps ending with a BBQ at the EAA Quonset hut in Redding.
Suann is also working on a possible "Reverse Progressive Picnic." Suann doesn’t have time, but she is going to work it out and let us know the details. Sounds like more fun! Gosh, Suann, you are great!
Nominations for Officers: Suann, Audrey Schutte and Sue Kerr are on the nominating committee. If they call you to take an office, please say YES! It is not hard, it is a wonderful way to get involved and everyone has a good time. Remember, more hands make lighter work.
Many of you have paid your club dues. This covers newsletter expenses as well as small chapter expenses and our post office box. If you haven’t paid, be sure to sent your $20 to

Our Forest of Friendship honor to Jane LaMar is completed along with a brick with her name on the walkway in front of the Amelia Earhart Birth Home. Since Jane’s granddaughter is graduating from high school the week of the ceremony in Atchison, she will not be going. But we have a wonderful contingent plan: Jane will come to the annual summer party at Donna Taylor’s where we will make the presentation.
Donna’s party is not scheduled for sure yet, but will be on either Friday Aug. 13th or Sat. Aug. 14th. So mark your calendar with a question mark.
You know, there is something about going to an airport for a meeting as opposed to anywhere else. Chairman Lois E. has been holding chapter board meetings at Jim & I Aviation at Redding Municipal Airport. And it seems to be more fun. If Sue and Jim Kerr don’t mind, we will probably keep doing this even if we have new officers.
Keep in mind the May 8th meeting will be in Corning. We want Carol and Brian to show us their new book on Ultralight flying. Maybe Brian will give us a short talk about them and then those who want may go for an ultralight lesson. Look forward to this exciting meeting.
PLEASE NOTE: Each one of you, if you have a change of address, phone number and, especially, e-mail, contact Suann Prigmore and/or Donna Taylor as we now try to e-mail your newsletter to you. Suann needs your phone number so we can call you if any change in the fly outs or meetings.
