Hi Everyone:
Career Day: Sequoia middle school asked us to introduce about 120 children to aviation and aviation careers. Suann Prigmore, Barbara Crooker, Lois Erickson, Leigh Guinn, Bill Duvall, Julie Ostendorf, Diana Ward, Sue Kerr and Donna Taylor assisted. Andrea Williams husband, Ken, repaired our flight simulator and it was a huge success. Thanks . It was well received with great enthusiasm from the students and teachers. We met after at Chevy’s for lunch and discussion. Thanks, Suann! You did a great job of organizing and putting together fabulous take-home folders for each and every student attending.
We successfully completed the 80 ft. compass rose at Redding Municipal Airport at 5:15 PM April 2nd. Rain arrived at 6:45 PM along with thunder and lightning. Those helping our slave driving Paint Chairman, Barbara Crooker, was, first, her very obedient granddaughter and delightful young lady, Kelsey Wolff. Others following orders were Diana Ward, Lois Erickson, Andrea Williams, Donna Harmon, Donna Taylor, our new member, Leigh Guinn and Lois Sweeney who said she was filling in for Suann Prigmore who was attending a funeral in Oklahoma. We had 8 great helpers, could have used at least 2 more but we got it done.
Good news from Susan Hill. She is still teaching ground school at Embry-Riddle in Prescott. She has been attending Sedona Red Rockets and has decided to join their chapter so she can help them as a member. We totally understand and will keep Susan as a part of us forever.
Claire Walters continues to improve and plans to be at the start of the Palms To Pines Air Race.
POKER RUN: Good news, the Redding EAA is going to sponsor our upcoming poker run with proceeds going to our scholarship fund. Barbara and Audrey THANK YOU!
SUNDIAL BRIDGE TRECK: Suann, Bill Duvall, Lois Sweeney, Julie and Don Ostendorf and Andrea Williams were our chapter’s representatives and transportation for a group of Sutter Buttes members when they flew into Jim & I Aviation at Redding Municipal Airport. They had lunch at the Sundial Bridge and visited the EAA garage sale. You can’t imagine how much fun the group had because they are a crazy bunch. (Well, with Weird Old Thelma and Willa Young they had to have a crazy time!)
Recent remark from Southwest flight attendant: “Weather at our destination is 50 degrees with some broken clouds, but we’ll try to have them fixed before we arrive…”
FLY WITH FLAIR!
