March 14 – Chapter Meeting 1:00, Benton Field, Hangar 1A-Emergency Preparedness

TBD - on location availability – CoPilot Seminar

Welcome to winter in Northern California.  So we won’t be flying much for a while, let’s be sure to catch the next Chapter meeting NEXT Saturday.  We will be having a discussion on being prepared for emergencies (good follow up on the Coast Guard visit for SSS).  Bring your ideas, what you currently do to be prepared, any handy-dandy things you carry along, and let’s have a fun discussion.  Remember, you only get out of something exactly what you put into it. “99s are tremendously capable, accomplished and simply fascinating women….no matter how hard you work for this organization, you always get out of it more than you put in!”

Also, at that same Sat. morning at 10am the FAA Safety Seminar will have members from the Humboldt Bay Air/Search & Rescue team.  You won’t be sorry you were there.

A personal note from Donna Taylor – I want to express my thanks for your love and concern over the loss of my father.  Those of you who knew him enjoyed his jolly attitude and humor.  Second, I read of the recent death of Nancy Bird Walton.  I met her at a 99s Convention in 1991 (I think).  Meeting her was one of my most joyous experiences.  Without the 99s I would never have known about her.  So all of you – go to the Section and Conventions to really get to know WHY you are a 99.

Anne Marie Sutter also lost her father this last month, our sympathies go out to her as well, and hope the family is doing well.

 Could It Be Magic?

In life, you usually get out of something exactly what you put into
it, be it a piggy bank, a tool box, or an organization. 99s are
tremendously capable, accomplished, and simply fascinating women. Each
of them seem to be carrying out the 99s mission, soaring above and
beyond just flying left seat. Funny thing is, no matter how hard you
work for this organization, you always get out of it more than you put
 in! …Magic!

Each of our Southwest Section Officers has made a commitment to serve
us all. They represent us at International meetings, manage our funds,
encourage struggling Chapters, and guide our Section. It takes
dependable, responsible women with insight and capability.
Fortunately, much of the Section Officers’ work is done via e-mail.
It really doesn’t take a huge time commitment to do some of these
jobs. Of course, some ladies really throw themselves into it,
delighting in visiting Chapters all around the Section.

The elected offices include: Governor, Vice Governor, Secretary,
Treasurer, two Directors, and five members of the Nominating
Committee. Our next election will be held in 2010.

Have you noticed that each 99 who serves leaves a legacy reflecting
her talents? Please take a moment and consider yours…They may be
just what we need! Don’t be shy… nobody ever got a pilot’s
license that way. You just might want to test the waters by taking on
a supporting role. Contact one of us on the Nominating Committee and
let us help you become part of the Magic or visit www.SWS99s.org to
 download an application for office!

FLY WITH FLAIR!

St. Patrick’s Day:  May you have no frost on your spuds, may you have no worms on your cabbage, may your goat give plenty of milk, and if you inherit a donkey, may she be with foal.
