CALENDAR:

June 15: Benton Field Aviation Day 7AM to 11AM Breakfast

June 24-27: Air Race Classic

Aug. 1-3: Palms to Pines Air Race

Aug. 6-9:  99s International Conference, Anchorage, Alaska

Aug. 16:  Chapter party at Taylors, 6:30pm, swim & hamburgers

Young Eagles Flights:  We had a bumper crop of young people willing to wait patiently for their turn at a flight.  Barbara Crooker, Barbara Boot, Suann Prigmore, Donna Taylor, and several others that I cannot name now, along with 8 pilots, took over 120 young people for a ride.  THANK YOU ALL!  It was fun and weather was bit warm, but ok.

SW SECTION MEETING:  Barbara Crooker, Diana Ward, Cheryl Knight and Donna Taylor ventured down to Palm Springs for a fun meeting.  It was rather hot but the meetings were interesting and the lunch and food  gatherings were well done.  Best of all, Claire Walters was the speaker at the Saturday night banquet.  Claire was her very humorous self.  She is a great speaker.  If you missed it, am sorry for you.  The outgoing SW Section Governor, Martha Phillips, received her quilt with a square made from every chapter. Diana Ward and Cheryl Knight made our square and it looked beautiful.  Many thanks to you both.

  Also, our Barbara Crooker was thanked for her service as SW Section Treasurer and given a new “hat” as SW Section Director.

  Cheryl is decorating a “teddy bear” as a fisherwoman and submitting it to the International 99s Conference in Anchorage, Alaska.  Does anyone have a good softcopy graphic of the compass rose?  She’d like to put it on the back of the bears vest.

WOW!  Do you realize how much Cheryl and Diana and Barbara have done for our Chapter this year!  Thanks does not seem strong enough. 

Fall River Airport Day:  Cheryl Knight set up a table at the airport, she had paper for paper airplanes.  People who wanted to compete, were given 3 tries to fly their paper airplane the farthest.  The winner got a free flight sponsored by the local Fall River FBO.  Thank you Cheryl and to the sponsor.  It was a beautiful day and all went well.

FATHER’S DAY BREAKFAST:  This is just around the corner on Sunday, June 15^th.  Our Julie Ostendorf is organizing and needs all of our help.  We will serve food from 7AM to about 11AM (depending on when the food runs out).  Since there will be no other airport events this summer, we expect lots of people to come to Benton Field.

Cheryl will be listing our department chairmen so be ready to accept.  While Cheryl takes the “helm” this month, we will wait to have our “DEMOTION//EMOTION PARTY” in August when we will relieve Andrea of the job and give the gavel to Cheryl. Also, eat and have fun swimming!

Special:  Keep Suann Prigmore in your prayers….she is now learning to ride her “trike” motorcycle and has sold her Grumman Tiger.
