Hi Everyone:
We had so much fun at the Poker Run with 8 entries and others that just drove up to the QuonsetHut and bought a hand. Lots and lots of good food. Special thanks to the EAA and all who worked on this project. It really was fun and so good.
ACSHA’S SCHOLARSHIP: We now have the funds to send to start the scholarship that will be handled through the Amelia Earhart program. Thanks to all who donated. We hope some of you will continue to donate to this very special scholarship.
FATHER’S DAY: Julie O. and always helpful husband, Don, did a marvelous job of organizing, working, cooking, cleanup. Everyone who could be there helped. The weather threatened us for 3 days before so it looked like a bad day. But we had sunshine just in time. Served over 500 breakfasts. We worked in conjunction with the EAA and CAP so there was good help. And what fun! There were lots of planes on static display, helicopter rides, airplane fly-by’s, and a delightful sunny but not hot day. Big thank you to all who helped and to Julie and Don for their endless work. We saw Barbara Crooker, Suann Prigmore and her right-hand guy Bill Duval, Liz and Dave Dealey, Audrey Schutte, Diane Berry, Diana Ward, Sue Kerr (and I think Jim was there somewhere) Dianna Branch. Since I came late I only saw some of you, but heard that Lucy and George Shepherd were there. So if I missed any of you, it is because I was home taking care of my Dad until late in the morning. What fun and great spirit among our members. I am so proud of you all!
ECHO TANGO: When you get your check ride, don’t forget to have your Echo Tango form and get it signed. Suann needs them before our Christmas Party.
YOUNG EAGLES: Barbara Crooker has successfully spearheaded Young Eagles Day at Benton field in Redding. Barbara along with five EAA pilots and eight ground crew helpers flew 33 young people for their first flight. Barbara was enthused and invigorated and now aims to fly at least 100 young eagles before the year end. You Go Girl! This is the start of some very wonderful opportunity to introduce the wonder and pleasure of flight to young people. Barbara Boot in Corning has just received her recognition from EAA for flying 200 young eagles! Keep it up!
Am attaching a lot of pictures from the Father’s Day breakfast. Enjoy!
Aviation 101: Speed is life, altitude is life insurance. No one ever collided with the sky.
