PLANE TALK MT. SHASTA CHAPTER 99s AUGUST 2006
Calendar: Aug. 11-13 Palms to Pines Air Race Aug. 19 – Chapter Party at Taylor’s 6PM Sept. 21-24 SW & NW Combined Section Meeting
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUANN PRIGMORE – AUG.23RD
Hi Everyone:
PROJECT ALERT: Donna Taylor will be going down to Red Bluff to meet the Palms to Pines Air Racers. She will take refreshments (mostly water on ice) and snacks. She needs a couple of girls to accompany her. It is going to be fun, and may even stay for dinner. Call Donna at 247-1199 or email her. The Race comes into RBL on Aug. 11th. We will start about noon.
JULIE AND DON AND CREW DID IT AGAIN!!! The Breakfast on Father’s Day at Benton Field was a HUGE SUCCESS. Julie has built on her “Can Do” reputation! The people came because they knew there would be wonderful food and a great aviation display. To Julie and Don, our chapter, volunteer workers and EAA: We cannot thank you enough!
TRINITY CENTER FLY-OUT Our changing weather let us have a good day on June 3rd. Several airplanes from Sutter Buttes Chapter and 3 from our chapter met at 10ish AM. Pat Forbes and husband Dave invited all of us to their beautiful home for lunch. ?We visited with Eleanore Scott and Pat and all who flew in. The Forbes cooked hamburger and chicken burgers; several of us provided salads and desserts. The food and flying was good, but the company and visiting with aviation friends was better. Thank you Pat and Dave!
WHO IS FLYING; Our Chairman, Suann, just finished a 13 state aviation flight. Some of us envy her! Now we will welcome our new chairman, Andrea Williams at our “Emotion//Demotion” party at Taylor’s on Aug. 19th. Hope to see everyone there.
Young Eagles; June 24, 2006 report from Barbara Crooker: “In spite of the weather (hot), we flew 26 young eagles. They came from as far as Burney and Hat Creek to participate….” “…the CHP helicopter crew on duty conducted tours…” Barbara thanked the pilots, ground crews and all who helped at the Benton Field. We are so proud of you, Barbara! She wants us to remember we will do it again in the fall.
NEW HORIZONS: Many of you will remember Lois Weaver who lived just out of Weaverville, CA. but moved away about a year ago. Lois was a widow. She had a stroke in June and passed away on June 9th very peacefully. Lois had a passion for flying. She had been in races and she had given aviation classes to school students in Weaverville. We shall miss her.
SECTION MEETING: We will begin preparations to do our part at the meeting in Ashland, OR. Barbara Crooker and Willa Young have already begun. You will be contacted to help.
Quote from Steven Wright, Comedian: “Eagles may soar, but weasels don’t get sucked into jet engines.”
FLY WITH FLAIR!!!
