HAPPY BIRTHDAY Elsie Branch, (Dianna Branch’s mom)
Hi Everyone:
We hope we haven’t confused anyone with our double event day of April 8th. However, Barbara Crooker and the EAA have scheduled a Young Eagles day. All of us who can help fly the students are needed.
The other event is the invitation from Sutter Buttes Chapter to our members to join them in a hike the Sutter Buttes mountains followed by lunch at Thelma Cull’s home. We understand the wildflowers will be in bloom. Fly or meet Suann who will fly to Sutter County Airport to arrive at 8:30AM. They will have cars there to drive you to the starting point Suann also has maps for those who may drive. She needs your response by April 1st, so let her know.
MATH & SCIENCE CONFERENCE: We can chalk up another success with 7 of our members presenting aviation and pilot career classes to about 80 students. We divided each of the four classes into four groups where they would move around to different stations and then move to the next. Some moved to the airplane simulator (Lois Erickson); then Charts and a GPS trip (Sue Kerr); then aeronautic by model airplane (Barbara Crooker and Audrey Schutte); and then pilot to tower communications (Cheryl Knight and Donna Taylor). Suann presented weather and weather briefing along with her opening and introductions (see picture). Big thank you to Suann and all who helped! Ours was considered by the AAUW to be one of the most popular presentations – well, maybe tied with the veterinary classes with their alpaca, dogs and cats. These young 7th and 8th grade girls were some of the best we have had.
FLYING COMPANION SEMINAR: Cheryl Knight is working hard on coordinating the event. She may be calling for help. She has flyers and we will print one to you soon.
MEETING IN A BOX: Our next meeting will be titled “More – Never Again.” It is scenarios where people did something they shouldn’t have done. (Hmmm, do I have to tell e v e r y t h i n g ?)
Diana Ward is putting together a list of safety and go-no go items for us.
Fly With Flair!
Remember: If at first you do not succeed, skydiving is not for you.
