Hi Everyone:

The Math & Science program at Shasta College was delightful as well as fun. We had 4 classes – about 10 to 14 students in each. The really fun part was their excitement at learning about aviation. Suann did a superb job of getting materials for a take-home folder for each of the students and then gave opening remarks. Lois Sweeney had a computer connected to a large screen for weather information and also gave cloud formations. Andrea Williams showed students what a pilot carried in chart bag. Barbara Crooker had straw airplanes that they put together – some may want to go to work for Boeing. Lois Erickson had an aviation display along with VCR video of aerobatic flight. Audrey Schutte stood atop a ladder with a sign around her neck that said, "Tower Controller" while Donna Taylor had the students call the tower for taxiing or take-off instructions, and then flight following. After we cleaned out our "stuff" we all went to Chevy’s for refreshments. THANK YOU, SUANN and thanks to everyone! You really did a great job of organizing and presenting.

Our member Carol Carpenter has a badly broken left arm from a kick by a young colt.. Also, Barbara Boot’s Bill had some surgery again. All on the mend but has been tough going. We wish you both well.

At the April 24th Safety Seminar Sue and Jim (Jim&I Aviation) are hosting a fundraising event starting at noon. Event will include a FAA Safety Seminar on Survival as well as a plane wash, delicious BBQ lunch, IFR flight simulator competition and many other activities.
